Break free from expectations
Break free from expectations... and protect yourself, my son, from human molds and their evils. If you're accustomed to giving and following the policy of open doors, then you must learn to break free from expectations from time to time, so as not to be exploited or have your boundaries violated. After a while, people will demand from you what the Quraysh demanded of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). They will ask you to make rivers flow for them... or move mountains... and they may even go so far as to ask you to show them angels around them!
Everyone will deal with you based on the assumption: 'He should understand and do this and that.' You will be blamed for every ugly thing their feet fall into, as soon as they forget your favors, your kindness to them, and your care for their well-being. Therefore, beware of constant closeness that lacks privacy and going beyond everyone's expectations. When they demand angelic behavior from you, leave immediately.
Be independent of everyone, and more importantly, do not turn back, because focusing on creation will divert you from the Creator. Learn not to be excessive in giving; extravagance in love is a crime, so be moderate. Always give advice, but advise once and then remain silent... What concern is it of yours whether someone is saved or lost?
You're only responsible for delivering the message and moving forward... For every person, there is a complete life filled with tests, so why would you answer questions meant for someone else? Do not look away from your path... Keep going... The door hasn't closed yet; you still have time to reach it, but beware of turning back, lest you waste time and the door closes, causing you to miss out!
The people of salvation in this time are those who do good without looking at who they're doing good to, with the swiftness to leave before people offer rewards, or even thanks, or sometimes exhibit bad manners.
Save yourself... Act without waiting... Follow the path of the few... the grateful few mentioned by Allah in His Book: 'But few of My servants are grateful.' As for the majority, do not associate with them except for service, then depart... For most of them are described in the Book of your Lord as: 'Sinners, hypocrites, extravagant, and transgressors.'
Say 'peace'... and depart quietly."
